Introducing The Far Out Blog

It’s been a while since I added anything to the Far Out Zone. I guess I’ve been busy with work and the two writing projects that I have in the wings. Well, things have changed and work has become looking for work. The pay kind of sucks, but at least the hours are flexible. Kidding aside, as terrifying as losing your job in your fifties can be, it could end up being a blessing in disguise. Time will tell.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, I am starting my own little blog. It’s going to contain many a walk down memory lane, but this isn’t going to be reminiscing just for the sake of the time-honored tradition. I don’t want to be a drag about it, but I’ve been around long enough to recognize the entropy that seems to be eating away at society. I’m mostly referring to American society, but I’m almost certain that it is more widespread.

The idea is, if we can recognize where the problems are, we can reflect on them, talk about them, and maybe even attempt to correct them. I really don’t have the answers we need, and this blog in itself isn’t going to move the needle much. It’s just one drop in a bucket filled by the collective efforts of millions of people all over the world—many of them are way smarter than me. Together with a little hope and audacity, who knows, maybe we can have a positive impact on the one world we all share.

Thanks,

John
